Course Overview

This 2-day intensive course is designed for technicians, engineers, and maintenance personnel to gain practical knowledge and hands-on skills in electro-pneumatic systems integrated with sensor technology. Participants will learn to troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize industrial automation systems safely and efficiently.

 

Course Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

Course Content

Day 1: Electro-Pneumatic Fundamentals & Electrical Integration

Module 1: Introduction to Electro-Pneumatic Systems

  • Overview of electro-pneumatic components: valves, actuators, compressors
  • Types of pneumatic systems: single-acting, double-acting, cascaded circuits
  • Safety protocols in industrial automation

Hands-On Activity:

  • Identify components in a live pneumatic panel
  • Assemble a basic pneumatic circuit

Module 2: Electrical Integration with Pneumatics

  • Basics of electrical circuits in automation
  • Relays, contactors, and solenoids for pneumatic control
  • Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams

Hands-On Activity:

  • Wire a solenoid valve to a relay and test actuation
  • Troubleshoot basic electrical faults

Module 3: Preventive Maintenance Techniques

  • Routine inspection and lubrication
  • Checking for air leaks and electrical continuity
  • Maintenance checklist creation

Hands-On Activity:

  • Conduct a full preventive maintenance inspection on a test bench
  • Identify and document common issues

 

Day 2: Sensor Integration & Troubleshooting

Module 4: Introduction to Sensors

  • Types of sensors: proximity, photoelectric, limit switches, pressure sensors
  • Sensor specifications and selection
  • Wiring and mounting best practices

Hands-On Activity:

  • Connect sensors to pneumatic and electrical circuits
  • Test sensor functionality and response time

Module 5: Sensor Integration with Electro-Pneumatic Systems

  • Interfacing sensors with PLCs and control panels
  • Implementing feedback loops for automated systems
  • Safety considerations in sensor integration

Hands-On Activity:

  • Build a small automated system with sensor feedback
  • Simulate faults and observe system response

Module 6: Troubleshooting & Optimization

  • Diagnosing common electrical, pneumatic, and sensor faults
  • Using multimeters and diagnostic tools
  • Best practices for system optimization

Hands-On Activity:

  • Identify and fix pre-set faults in an integrated system
  • Record findings and solutions in a maintenance log
