INTRODUCTION FOR SAFETY LEADERSHIP FOR SUPERVISORS

This is one day intensive program designed to empower leaders or supervisors with the knowledge and tools to drive a proactive safety culture. The course focuses on theory and practical techniques like safety leadership, coaching and fostering team accountability to reduce incidents and create a safer workplace.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • To introduce practical tools for observing, measuring and reinforcing safety leadership in the workplace.

Day 1

Module Description
Ice Breaking & Course Brief

 

Module 1: Role of Supervisor in Safety

Get to know each other, set expectations, intro to leadership articles in the context of safety

 

Understand the role of supervisors as safety frontliners and responsibility.

Module 2: Safety Culture & Behaviour How to influence safety mindset & behaviour team—method to change “tak apa” attitude
Module 3: Communication Skills for Safety How to advise people but still win hearts. Reprimands, briefings, incident reports—everyone must have skills
Module 4: Risk Awareness & Hazard Spotting Teach supervisors to look at risks, not just follow the checklist—develop ‘safety eyes’

Day 2

Module Description
Module 5: Incident Prevention & Near-Miss Culture How to avoid accidents before they happen. Promote near-miss reporting culture
Module 6: Leading by Example Supervisors need to be role models. If he failed, the team also failed
Module 7: Toolbox Talk Mastery Teach participant to create an impactful toolbox meeting
Module 8: Conflict & Accountability When people don’t follow safety—how to handle conflict & enforce without fighting
Final Wrap-up & Action Plan Summarise, take pledges, and create a personal safety leadership plan.
