INTRODUCTION FOR COMMUNICATIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM

The Communicative English Program is a dynamic two-day course designed to help you master the essential skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English. Unlike traditional grammar-heavy lessons, this program emphasizes real-world communication, helping you express your ideas clearly and confidently in both personal and professional settings.

COURSE CONTENTS

Day 1

Module 1

  • Ice Breaking – Activity 1
  • Introduction to English grammar
  • Activity 2 (Parts of Speech Scramble) – Give participants a list of words and ask them to put them to make a sentence using the appropriate parts of speech.
  • Syntax and spelling

Module 2

  • Developing oral communication skills
  • Activity 3 (One Word Storytelling) – One player starts a story with a word, and the next player continues it, and so on. This can be done with a group or with one person taking turns.
  • Instruction on pronunciation and accent reduction

Module 3

  • Types of Communication
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Activity 4 (Pictionary) – Players take turns drawing pictures that represent words or phrases. The other players must guess what is being drawn.

Module 4

  • Active Listening Skills
  • Listening and responding to spoken English
  • Activity 5 (Broken Telephone) – Each successive player in the chain whispers the message to the next, and the final player announces the message out loud to the entire group.

Module 5

  • Conversation Strategies
  • Activity 6 (Categories) – One player names a category (e.g. sports) and the other players take turns naming something that fits the category until someone can’t think of any more.)
  • Opportunities for self-expression

Module 6

  • Public Speaking Skills
  • How to overcome public speaking fear
  • Activity 6 (Personal Reflection) – Write down their thoughts and feelings about a particular topic, such as self-esteem, and then share them with the group.

 

Day 2

Module 7

  • Cultural Awareness
  • Activity 8 (Group Discussion) – Brainstorming – Ask participants to generate ideas related to the training topic and present them to the group.
  • Technology Integration

Module 8

  • Writing Skills
  • Tips to Improving Writing Skills
  • How to Send Effective Email
  • Activity 9 (Story Cubes)
  • Players picks an image and use the images to create stories.

Module 9

  • Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms, Homophones, Homonyms, Prefixes, Suffixes, Root words, Compound words, Idioms, Collocations)
  • Encouraging Constructive and Positive Feedback
  • Activity 10 (Hot Potato) – The facilitator passes an object (like a ball) from person to person. After a certain amount of time, the facilitator calls out “Hot Potato!” and the person holding the object must answer a question or perform a task.

  • Creative Thinking
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Effective Presentation Skills
  • Activity 11 (Charades) – Give each participant a phrase or word and have them act it out for the group to guess.

Module 11

  • Reading Skills
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Activity 12 (Word Association) – Have participants list as many words as they can that are related to a given topic.

Module 12

  • Assessment and Evaluation
  • Activity 9 (Presentation/ Final Assessment)
  • Recap of the whole session
