Course Overview
In today’s uncertain and rapidly changing business environment, organizations must be prepared to respond effectively to disruptions such as system failures, cyber incidents, supply chain interruptions, natural disasters, and other operational risks. Business Continuity Management (BCM) provides a structured approach for organizations to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptions while maintaining critical business functions. This Business Continuity Management Training program provides participants with a practical framework for developing organizational resilience, strengthening business continuity capabilities, and maintaining critical operations during unexpected events.
The program takes participants through the complete BCM Lifecycle, beginning with Business Continuity Governance, BCM policies, roles, responsibilities, and organizational requirements. Participants will learn how to conduct a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) to identify critical business functions, assess the impact of disruptions, determine recovery priorities, and establish appropriate recovery requirements. These findings will support the development and improvement of Business Continuity Plans (BCP), Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP), and ICT Disaster Recovery Plans that are aligned with organizational needs.
Through practical exercises, scenario-based simulations, case studies, and BCM runbook development, participants will gain hands-on experience in preparing for different disruption scenarios and coordinating effective response and recovery activities. The program also emphasizes operational resilience, recovery strategies, crisis response, plan testing, and continuous improvement. By the end of the program, participants will be better equipped to strengthen business continuity practices, improve organizational preparedness, reduce operational disruption, and build a more resilient organization.
Programme Objectives
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Apply the principles of the ISO 22301 BCM framework.
- Explain the critical relationship and linkage between BCP, BIA, and DRP.
- Identify critical business functions, impacts, and dependencies using a structured BIA methodology.
- Determine recovery priorities using metrics such as RTO, RPO, and MTPD.
- Draft actionable recovery strategies and technical DRP runbooks.
- Design and facilitate phased simulation scenarios to test organizational readiness.
Target Participants
Managers, executives, risk officers, BCM coordinators, IT personnel, operations personnel, compliance personnel, internal auditors, and department representatives involved in continuity and recovery planning.
