Luckily, noise exposure can be controlled. No matter what the noise problems may be in a particular workplace, technology exists to reduce the hazard. It may be possible to:

• Use sound-absorbing materials to prevent the spread of noise by isolating the source.

In order to successfully implement a safe working environment, employees must be equipped with the knowledge and techniques of hearing conservation program. The employer should adopt annual training program, which is provided for each employee included in the hearing conservation program. The training program includes effects of noise on hearing; the purpose of hearing protectors, and instruction on their selection, fitting, use, and care; and the purpose of audiometric testing.
