Course Overview
Hazmat Operation Training is a specialized training program for firefighters and emergency responders who may respond to incidents involving hazardous materials which also known as hazmat. The Hazmat Operation Training focuses on the knowledge, skills, and techniques required to safely and effectively manage hazardous materials incidents, including chemical spills, leaks, and releases. Participants learn about the properties and behavior of hazardous materials, as well as how to identify, contain, and mitigate hazardous materials incidents. The training includes both classroom instruction and hands-on exercises, and covers topics such as personal protective equipment, decontamination, hazardous materials regulations, and incident command. Successful completion of the program may lead to certification or accreditation from relevant organizations or agencies.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the classification and handling of hazardous materials (HAZMAT)
- Recognize physical, chemical, and health risks of exposure
- Comply with national and international HAZMAT regulations (e.g., OSHA, GHS, DOT,ADR)
- Promote safe storage, labeling, transportation, and emergency response practices
- Identify different classes of hazardous materials (flammable, toxic, corrosive, etc.)
- Interpret HAZMAT labeling systems (GHS, NFPA, DOT placards)
- Apply correct storage, handling, and spill control methods
- Respond appropriately in the event of a HAZMAT incident or leak
Methodology
All the training sessions will be conducted through Tutorials, Discussion, Lecture
