INTRODUCTION FOR BASIC SOLDERING SKILLS TRAINING
These 2 days “Basic Soldering Skills Training” will provide the participants the ability to understand the general concepts and requirement to do good quality soldering.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
To enhance knowledge and skills in the following areas.
- Understand basic fundamentals of solder theory, soldering techniques.
- Know soldering equipment, tools and solder station set-ups.
- Know the 4 step soldering method.
- Know tips and techniques in good soldering.
- Understand solder safety – Tools and PPEs
- Know about electrical and electronic components: PTH and SMDs.
- Understand solder defects.
- Learn to do good soldering – PTH and Chip components.
- Able to remove and replace electronic and digital components in high end technology products.
- Know how to do quality soldering to reduce unnecessary rework and scraps.
- Improve confidence and competence level in specialized hands on soldering and rework skills.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Computer maintenance and troubleshooting technicians, Computer repair and rework technicians.
WORKSHOP METHODOLOGY
- Participants will be involved in 20% theory and 80% hands on practical on solder standards.
- Each phase of removal and installation of components will be assessed for timing and quality using score sheets. Training and learning shall be supported by trainer’s feedback and comments.
- The training includes skill assessment on the following areas.
- Preparation of solder station.
- Demonstration of soldering skills.
- Solder quality and techniques.
- Safety.
- 5S.
